Restriction enzymes are a class of endonucleases that recognize specific deoxynucleotide sequences and cleave phosphodiester bonds between two deoxyribonucleotides at specific sites in each strand. Restriction enzymes are important components of the restriction-modification system. The biological role is to protect the host from foreign DNA infection. XbaI, derived from Xanthomonas campestris, is a commonly used type II restriction enzyme. This product is obtained by recombinant protein production technology.
