GDP-D-mannose disodium consists of GDP-alpha-D-mannose and GDP-beta-D-mannose. GDP-alpha-D-mannose serves as a donor substrate for mannosyltransferases and a precursor for GDP-beta-L-fucose biosynthesis. It competitively inhibits GTP with a Ki of 14.7 µM and non-competitively inhibits mannose-1-P with a Ki of 115 µM.
