Amino acids 408-439 of the human protein were used as the immunogen for the c-Myc antibody.
MYC is a transcription factor that binds DNA in a non-specific manner, yet also specifically recognizes the core sequence 5-CAC[GA]TG-3. It activates the transcription of growth-related genes [UniProt]. It is also commonly used as an epitope tag to purifiy and identify tagged recombinant proteins.
