MCP-1 (Monocyte Chemoattractant Protein 1), otherwise known as CCL2, is a 76aa CC chemokine which acts as a chemoattractant for monocytes, basophils, activated T cells and NK cells, through binding with the seven-transmembrane G protein-coupled receptor, CCR2. The recruitment of mononuclear cells by MCP-1, has established this chemokine as an important factor in innate immunity, implicated in the pathogenesis of inflammatory diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis, multiple sclerosis, uveitis and bronchial asthma. Increasing studies have also linked MCP-1 with the polarization of activated T cells into the T helper 2 (Th2) subset, revealing a role for MCP-1 in the adaptive immune response. Applications: Suitable for use in ELISA and Western Blot. Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilution: Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Storage and Stability: Store product at 4C if to be used immediately within two weeks. For long-term storage, aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing and store at -20C. Aliquots are stable at -20C for 12 months after receipt. Dilute required amount only prior to immediate use. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer. Note: Sodium azide is a potent inhibitor of peroxidase and should not be added to HRP conjugates. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Note: Applications are based on unconjugated antibody.
